3 IAS aspirants died after flooding

After heavy rain caused the basement of a tutoring institution in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar neighborhood to overflow, three aspirants to the civil service sadly lost their lives. The Rau’s IAS Study Circle is where the incident happened. A criminal complaint was filed after the incident, and two people were taken into custody for their roles.

“A criminal case has been registered, and forensic teams are currently gathering evidence,” said senior police officer M. Harshavardhan. We’re committed to carrying out a careful inquiry and making sure that justice is done.”

Around seven o’clock at night, the Delhi Fire Department received a distress call reporting that people may be trapped in the submerged basement. DCP Harshavardhan provided further details, pointing out that the entrapment was probably caused by the sudden floods.

The remains of the deceased were recovered from the basement, which was being used as a library, thanks to rescue operations conducted by Delhi Police, fire officials, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Nevin Dalwin (28), Shreya Yadav (25), and Tania Soni (25), were named as the deceased.

Pumping out the water from the flooded basement was still going on, and ropes were being used to help pupils who were stuck in the quickly rising water and floating furniture.

Students protested the incident, calling for better safety protocols in light of their peers’ deaths. A magistrate’s investigation into the incident has been requested by Delhi Minister Atishi, who has pledged responsibility and prompt action against those involved.

Following the incident, prominent local politicians, like as MP Bansuri Swaraj and Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, visited the location and denounced the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for what they perceived to be its carelessness, especially with regard to upkeep of the local infrastructure.

This tragedy brought to light persistent worries about public safety during the monsoon season, shortly after another civil service candidate, 26-year-old Nilesh Rai, was electrocuted in a related rain-induced event in Patel Nagar.
